Our Story

A lifelong “foodie”, Kym Latter has always had a passion for cakes and baking.

This love, became a favorite past time and hobby which evolved into a business, when an opportunity at a local farmers market gave her a chance to create a little slice of “country baking” in the city. A country girl, turned graphic designer, turned IT project manager, turned Mum, she began selling cupcakes at the Warwick Farm farmers markets in February 2008.

Unable to keep up with the demand, due to the lack of space in my VERY small domestic kitchen, Kym took the plunge in August 2009 and opened Gertie&Gilbert’s shop front and commercial kitchen.

Gertie&Gilbert are dedicated to creating cakes and cupcakes reminiscent of a visit to Grandma’s – every bite should awaken a little trip down memory lane of childhood favorites, secret indulgences and sharing moments of sheer happiness.

As soon as you walk through Gertie&Gilbert’s front door, the scent of freshly-baked cakes will make your nose happy and heart feel at home.
